How did we get to the point in which a foreign totalitarian regime is able to dictate, even without any immediate threat of violence, the actions of major American and European companies? To answer that question, we must look at the history of China and understand some of the fundamental values that shape its society. We must then look at the American economic and political system, and how it relates to the Chinese system. The core of the issue, as with every barbarian conquest, is not the superiority of the Chinese system, but the decline of the American one.
